Since on any given season there is so much that tends to be released during the course of the season it becomes next to impossible to cover everything. I can certainly try but there’s no guarantee. I’m going to start with the Winter 2017 season and work backwards since there are still shows I have to catch up on. Sometimes I don’t get to see the start of a particular show and I’ll wait until the show has completed its run before I start watching. For this season currently, I’ve chosen those shows I thought deserved coverage–either episode recaps or full reviews. Others depending on their size (how may episodes in a completed cour) will just get an overall review and that’s it. But we’ll see. I’ve been known to change my mind.

With the show title I’ll include the location where the show is streaming and attach the show’s trailer.

This season has some pretty solid offerings this time around. Some series are continuing on from last season (UGH!) and in those cases I’m skipping those for now, unless I’m watching the show in question currently. Here’s what I’ll be covering for this season:
SCUM’S WISH (Kuzu no Honkai; Studio: Lerche; Director: Andou, Masaomi)-

Streaming: Amazon Prime Video through additional monthly subscription to Anime Strike
Synopsis: To the outside world, Hanabi Yasuraoka and Mugi Awaya are the perfect couple. But in reality, they just share the same secret pain: they are both in love with other people they cannot be with.

SAGA OF TANYA THE EVIL (Youjo Senki; Studio: NUT; Director: Uemura, Yutaka)-

Streaming: Crunchyroll (sub); Funimation (simuldub)
Synopsis: On the front lines of the war, there is a little girl. Blond hair, blue eyes, and porcelain white skin, she commands her squad with lisping voice. Her name is Tanya Degurechaff. But in reality, she is one of Japan’s most elite salarymen, reborn as a little girl after angering a mysterious being who calls himself God. This little girl, who prioritizes efficiency and her own career over anything else, will become the most dangerous being amongst the sorcerers of the imperial army.
OP and ED songs are so killer! The one playing over the trailer is I believe the ED song.

MASAMUNE-KUN’S REVENGE (Masamune-kun no Revenge: Studio: Silver Link: Director: Minato, Mirai)-

Streaming: Crunchyroll (sub); Funimation (simuldub)
Keeping with our theme of twisted, and otherwise dysfunctional relationships, as if Scum’s Wish wasn’t enough to mess with our minds, I’m also going to check out Masamune-kun’s Revenge.
Synopsis: As a child, Masamune Makabe once suffered greatly at the hands of a wealthy and beautiful girl named Aki Adagaki, who nicknamed him “Piggy” due to his chubby appearance. Seeking revenge against his tormentor, Masamune works hard to improve himself and returns as an incredibly handsome, albeit narcissistic, high school student. When he encounters Aki once again, he is prepared to exact vengeance.

With the aid of the rich girl’s maid, Yoshino Koiwai, Masamune slowly begins to build his relationship with Aki, intending to break her heart when the time is right. However, as his friendship with Aki begins to grow, Masamune starts to question the objectives of his devious plans, and if bringing them to fruition is what his heart truly desires.

I’m going to be continuing with NANBAKA because……reasons! LOL The delightful goofiness, and high-spiritedness of the show hooked me from jump and maybe as the series continues we’ll get to find out what’s with all those sparkles. Now, I don’t think the gay vibe is intentional…..oh, who the fuck am I kidding here? (laughs) But as the progressed in later episodes, for those who are following, things were getting a bit heavier, at least toward the end of the first cour. Now that the second cour is in full swing, it’s going to be very interesting to see where the show goes from here. Of course, we had to be reminded that NANBAKA is a comedy anime!

I’m following a few others but that is all for now. I’m planning to review and recap these shows soon.

So let us know in the comments what shows are you checking out this season.
